Inferno Exotic Car

Inferno Exotic Car

Production for model one will start imminently, so it's time to start planning model # 2.

Having appeared seemingly out of nowhere last year with its outrageously-designed "Exotic Car," Mexican hypercar firm Inferno is already working on its second model. CEO Alvaro Gutierrez Ochoa told us the as-yet-unnamed second model will launch soon, and will arrive boasting many of the cutting-edge attributes as its stablemate. In case you're interested, the Inferno Exotic will be limited to 11 units, two of which are still available priced at 1.9 million Euros.

With optional V10 and V12 engines, output will be around 1,400 horsepower, giving it a 0-62 mph time of 2.2 seconds and a top speed exceeding 249 mph. There's no word on where the engine is coming from, but Inferno told us US, Italian and German engineering firms have been involved. Power is sent to the road via a seven-speed transmission and a four wheel drive system powering all four wheels or just the rear axle. Like the Exotic, the design of the new Inferno has been penned by Antonio Ferraioli, who's previous projects include the Lamborghini Veneno, Reventon Roadster and Asterion. It will also use the same metal foam technology for the body panels.

The company created an exclusive zinc-aluminum-silver alloy that absorbs impacts by stretching up to 100 times its original size without losing its properties. A renowned exhaust maker (Akrapovic?) will be handling the exhaust system, which Inferno says will be available in a range of finishes including titanium, gold, and carbon fiber. Carbon-ceramic brakes will provide the stopping power, with an electromechanical parking brake at the rear, while other features include laser LEDs, a 3D sound system, infotainment screen with 3D graphics, and a totally bespoke interior including the application of gold foil and textured silver.

We've been following Inferno for a couple of years now and hope it manages to get a car on the road in the next 12 months. Boutique carmakers come and go, but we have faith Inferno will deliver.
